Semi-Luxury Lodges

Our semi-luxury options constitute, predominantly, Moivaro’s range of permanent tented camps, and The Hotel and Lodges Group’s ‘Wildlife Lodges’.

While neither option aims to qualify as luxurious, both operations have recently enjoyed comprehensive upgrades at most of their properties and now offer good value for money.

Migunga Forest Camp

This is a basic but adequate tented camp a short drive from the entrance to the Lake Manyara National Park. Within the park there are excellent game viewing opportunities as well as sports and boating opportunities. The camp offers accommodation of a 1-2 star standard (approximation).

Ikoma Bush Camp

Located in the heart of the bush, not far from the Ikoma Gate to the Serengeti National Park, Ikoma Bush Camp offers very basic tented accommodation. The camp is well-located but offers a disappointing service when compared with the other tented camps in the region. The camp is only a step up from lightweight camping.

Lake Natron Tented Camp

Located between the Ngorongoro Highlands and the Serengeti Plains, Lake Natron is a haven for Flamingos. Slightly removed from the lake in a wooded grove, Lake Natron Tented Camp offers a basic standard of accommodation

Ngorongoro Wildlife Lodge

This is a basic and comfortable lodge with superb views of the Ngorongoro Crater. While not offering luxury accommodation, the hotel represents good value for its location when compared with other nearby enterprises.

Lobo Wildlife Lodge

This lodge is one of the cheapest stone built accommodation options in the northern Serengeti. As such it offers a quite basic hotel experience, but is comfortable and comes better recommended than some of the other H&L Wildlife Lodge resorts.

Ndutu Safari Lodge

This lodge offers quite basic stone built accommodation in the heart of the Serengeti Plains. While it advertises and prices itself as luxury, travellers to such a remote region should moderate their expectations somewhat.

Crater Forest Tented Camp

This is a basic camp-resort offering standard and satisfactory tented accommodation not far from the Ngorongoro Crater. However, the site is a rough 20 to 40 minute drive from the crater base (depending on conditions) and does not boast a crater view.

Tindiga Tented Camp

Located in the heart of the bush, not far from the Ikoma Gate to the Serengeti National Park, Ikoma Bush Camp offers very basic tented accommodation. The camp is well-located but offers a disappointing service when compared with the other tented camps in the region. The camp is only a step up from lightweight camping.

Lake Manyara Wildlife Lodge

(formerly Lake Manyara Hotel, this Lodge has undergone recent renovation) This is a basic mid-range lodge which boasts excellent views over Lake Manyara National Park.

Seronera Wildlife Lodge

The Seronera Wildlife Lodge is an exceptionally well located property with some excellent views. However, the hotel itself is mediocre at best and many feel that it is overpriced for the standard of accommodation and service on offer.

Kisima Ngeda

This is a small camp based close to the edge of Lake Eyasi in the Acacia Bush. Comprising of seven separated tents the camp has a personal feel and offers a warm welcome and a more intimate travel experience.

Tarangire Safari Lodge

This lodge, located on a raised plateau, boasts excellent views over the Tarangire National Park.
