Oliver's Camp

This intimate camp is managed by the reliable Asilia chain and offers a good, but basic, luxury style of accommodation in a stunning location, unbeatably close to wildlife, but a fair drive from the heart of Tarangire National Park.

Accommodation at Oliver's Camp

Oliver’s offers only 8 tents. These are remarkably large and provide a double bed as well as twin beds. Tents are en suiteand feature flush toilets and showers with 24 hour hot water. The camp has recently moved and been updated, meaning tents are relatively new and have not suffered the wear and tear apparent at some other camps.

The camp also offers the option of fly-camping. Groups of guests, accompanied by guides may choose to sleep in the open in the heart of the bush. This is a fantastic experience, but not for the light hearted and less snug than remaining in one of the camp’s comfortable beds.

Food and Drink at Oliver's Camp

The camp has a pleasant, open-walled thatched dining area. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are available. Food is good quality, though perhaps not as ‘luxury’ as Western expectations might presume of a camp of Oliver’s class. However, staff are known to go out of their way to accommodate customers dietary requirements and preferences.

Full cooked breakfasts are available as well as muesli, fruit and cold options. Lunch and dinner are plated rather than buffet. While this limits portion size it does mean that food is generally fresher and higher quality.

Oliver’s serves a good selection of alcoholic and soft drinks and guests commonly enjoy these around the camp’s atmospheric nightly camp fire.

Service at Oliver's Camp

Service at the camp is exceptionally welcoming and knowledgeable. Staff are on hand to guide guests to and from tents, radios are provided in-case of any emergencies and guides are also available to lead local walking safaris.

The camp’s small size lends it a personal feel. Most guests staying at Oliver’s feel genuinely a part of the camp for the time they are there as the set up encourages different visiting groups and families to come together.

The camp’s ideal location for walking safaris is its main allure. Walking the bush with an armed ranger is a welcome respite from safari drives. The landscape is breathtaking and guests get very close to a variety of animal, bird and plant-life.
